Changes to my study programme..

Imagen
Hello everyone! As you may already know from previous blogs, I am a forestry engineering student, I have been studying for three incredible and exhausting years now. In this time I have realized some things that I love about my career and some things that I don't like so much. First of all, my faculty is located in a very big and beautiful campus called Antumapu. It's full of green and wonderful trees, so I am glad to go there every week. But the infrastructure is not so good, because the classrooms are very uncomfortable and I think they don't promote learning, besides we need more study rooms, there are only two, and also comfortable places to sit and relax. Secondly, most of the teachers are amazing in their field, some of them are great teachers and inspire me. But some of them make me wonder why the hell they teach. It's as if their teaching methodology is to make us suffer. So, I think some of them could improve their teaching skills to make our learning more fun ...

Time travel....To the past or future?

Imagen
If I had the opportunity to travel back in time, I would love to visit many places and see my relatives when they were young.I would love to see my granny again, meet her in her youth, my mom too. But if we have to talk about a definite place and time, I would love to have been able to see live the Woodstock festival, considered the most important festival in the history of rock. So I would like to travel between August 15 and 18, 1969, to an alfalfa field in Bethel, 100 km southwest of Woodstock, New York, which was where it was originally going to be held, but the neighbors objected at the last minute. The festival was contemplated for about 200 thousand people, but it is estimated that there were about 500 thousand or even more, which caused a huge chaos, but it is said that it had a unique magic and mystique, since the participants were young people who promulgated the slogan "peace and love", mainly against the Vietnam War that was being fought in those years. Although t...

My dream job..

Imagen
Hello everybody! Today I am going to talk about my dream job in the future. First of all, today I am in 3rd year of forestry engineering, but I would love to be able to continue studing later, as a master or PhD. That would be great! Because my dream job needs a lot of knowledge to do research on the forest of Chile and the world, study innovate ways to mitigate climate change, discover how to protect native forest and preserve endangered plant communities as well as the fauna associated with them. I would like to work in a research center located in the south of Chile, somewhere remote, full of nature and beautiful landscapes, where the reserch team and I would have to travel in a van to carry our work instruments and in some places of difficult access, such as unexplored islands, we would have to use a small boat. That skill that I need to work here would be to know a lot about plant physiology, conservation and restoration methology, ecology, forest dinamics and much mor...

Best vacation ever!

Imagen
My best vacations have been with my dear cousin named Vivi. We went to Buenos Aires, Argentina in August 2020. We stayed in a small hotel in the city, which in the morning offered us a breakfast with a delicious typical sweet bread called facturas. Although we only stayed 4 days, we toured and walked a lot through the city, we took the subway, we visited Caminito, a very touristy place because of the colorful facades of the houses. We also toured the city center, some historic buildings, the Casa Rosada, the obelisk and much more. But by far the best of all is that we went to the Tango World Cup, which is a meeting that takes place every year for about 2 weeks, where the city is filled with activities about this dance, with live concerts, many classes, people dancing on any street and which ends with a great show at the Luna Park theater, where incredible dancers from all over the world compete. It is a beautiful show! It is one of my best vacations, because I went with my dear cousin,...

A country I would like to visit..

Imagen
There are many places that I would like to visit in the world, but one of the countries that I would love to visit is Egypt. Located in the extreme northeast of the African continent, it is a country with an impressive history, one of the oldest civilizations in the world.  The imposing pyramids are about 4,500 years old and were built with gigantic stone blocks, weinghing from 1.5 to 80 tons. In addition to being a country with a tremendous history, it is located on one side of the Red Sea, which they say is a marine habitat with tremendous biodiversity, with unique species in the world, both animal and plant. Its waters are one of the warmest in the world. One of the things that I would love to do there would be to swim in the coral reefs and there are also tourist places to swim with sea turtles. It would be wonderful to be able to do it!! The only bad thing is that to get to Egypt it take you like one day on plane!! It´s too much!!

A woman I admire...

Imagen
Hello everyone! In this last blog I will talk about a woman I admire a lot. She is Elena Caffarena, she was a great defender of women's rights, at a time marked by tremendous political, social and legal disadvantage, she dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of the working class and the emancipation of women. I admire her because she was a pioneer, she formed and led the first feminist organizations in the country, which were key to improving women's rights, she encouraged women to occupy spaces that were only for men, opening the way for society to will transform. Biography : Elena Caffarena, was born in Iquique in 1903, the daughter of Italian immigrants. In her adolescence she emigrated to the city of Santiago, where her family settled with a small socks and stockings workshop, where she frequently worked. In the twenties she entered the University of Chile, where she was the fifteenth woman to obtain a law degree in the country, thanks to which she developed a great...

My favorite food..

Imagen
My favorite food in the world is pizza. If it were up to me I would eat it every day, in the morning for breakfast, lunch or dinner, it can be used on any occasion. My boyfriend is an expert pizza chef, It's one of the things I love about him!!. First he makes the dough with a little yeast and let it rest for a few minutes, meanwhile I make the tomato sauce, I've learned to make a rich homemade sauce with garlic. We are a good team!! So, after waiting for the dough to rise, it is kneaded forming a circle, the sauce is added, obviously it is also important to put cheese on it, and my favorite extra ingredients are mushrooms and arugula. Finally, 15 or 20 minutes in a very hot oven, and that's it... an exquisite pizza freshly made at home. I think pizza is good for me, it makes me happy, especially because I love sharing it with my family while we watch a movie, but unfortunately I know that I can't eat every day, because otherwise my clothes would no longer fit me. hahah...
